I'm Back!
Hi! It's been awhile, I know. I've been busy working at a "real" job and spending many sunny days out in my yard. :~) I'm happy to be back at my computer writing and coming up with all sorts of ideas for new stories. I'm still working on Visions of Mortality, #2 in the Shelby Leight series, and I just started a new novel, still untitled. It's set in the year 2036 and is a narrative about what happens when a huge asteroid slams into the earth (a real possibility...read N. DeGrassi's Space Chronicle). The story is told by Belinda Samuels, a forty-something year old woman, as she relates how this disaster affects not only her family and friends, but humanity in general. I'm happy to be back! Enjoy reading!

Some Days...
Some days it's just hard to write. I cleaned my house (it was time). I worked on The Concrete Gnome and got it ready for publishing to Kindle - didn't involve any writing though. Tomorrow! Back to Visions of Mortality!

Happy Wednesday!
I read an article about writing that suggested making an outline to aid in getting your story going. A good idea if you're organized enough. Personally...my thoughts aren't that linear. I tend to bounce around a bit while writing and then sort it all out as I go.
Cracking my knuckles in preparation to begin writing. I've had a few good (I think) ideas for Shelby and Paul. Wish me luck!!

Help!
I can't seem to stop the flow of ideas. I keep writing stuff on pieces of paper and sticky notes. They're everywhere! I'm sure most of them will come to naught in the name of good writing, but I'm still writin' 'em down. Hubby gave me a little recording device that should come in handy, especially when I'm driving... ;~)

Writing
Most authors recommend writing every day. I have to confess that I'm finding this difficult to do, especially on the days I work at my other job. However, even when I'm not actually sitting at my computer writing, I'm thinking about it - going over story lines in my head, or jotting down notes (I'm going to get a little recorder for thoughts I have while driving...much safer). ;~) Marketing takes up a lot of my time too, and I resent it a little, but I know it's a necessary "evil" if I want, eventually, to be able to write full-time. Writing is becoming an obsession for me. When I'm not writing, I'm thinking about it and want to be writing.
Spring??
Had a great walk this morning with the pooches. Cool, but sunny and beautiful. Is spring here...dare I ask?
Got some really great suggestions and comments from my sisters on The Concrete Gnome. Now I just have to make a few changes, send it out to my group of readers for fine-tuning, then it'll be ready for final edit. YAY!

So long Davey Jones.
Sad news yesterday that Davey Jones died. Seems like only yesterday I had a poster of the Monkees on my bedroom wall. Seems like only yesterday we were young and carefree and watching reruns of their silly show on Saturday mornings. Time flies.

Happy Thursday!
We're having a beautiful day here in north Idaho. Partly sunny, the snow's mostly melted - it feels like spring. I've been working on The Concrete Gnome, fine-tuning, etc. Should have it ready for a second read by my sister in a few days. In the meantime, I'm going to go outside and play with the dogs while the sun is shining.

A good day!
I had a good, productive day of writing yesterday. I finished the first draft of The Concrete Gnome and sent it off to my sister to read and critique. I have a lot work yet to do on it, but at least I have a solid direction. Yes! :~)

We're having another nice, if a bit cool, day here in Idaho. I'll need to keep track of the time while I'm writing so I can take a break later and play with our dogs, Sydney and Pippin.
Had a good, productive day yesterday. Got a lot done on "The Concrete Gnome" a story I'm working on. I hope to release it to Kindle very soon! I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, please go to Goodreads.com and enter to win a signed copy of "Visions of You"! Have a great day!!

Shelby's in touble again...
Well, Shelby's gotten herself into another pickle. You'd think she'd learn, but then I wouldn't have a book to write! I'd better go help her out...I'm pretty she'll be okay, she's smart, strong, and sassy. Of course, all those attributes can sometimes invite more trouble. Here, see what I mean?
(from Visions of Mortality)
“Hey...what the...” I protested as someone grabbed a handful of my hair and yanked my head back hard enough to elicit a loud crack out of my neck.
My brain flashed back to that night - a knife...shining in the candlelight...slashing...
(from Visions of Mortality)
It was chilly that morning at thirty
degrees and I’d forgotten my mittens, which were sitting all warm and snug on
the little shelf by the door while my fingers were freezing, so I decided to go
back in and get them while the car warmed up.
I realized that the house key was on the ring that was sticking out of
the ignition of my car, so I climbed in, tossed the scraper in the backseat,
and worked the key off the ring. I
climbed back out of the car and headed up to the tiny front porch.
Climbing up the two steps to the
small landing in front of the door, I thought I heard a noise off to my
left. I paused and looked around –
nothing. I moved toward the door with
the key poised to shove into the keyhole.
As I turned the key and the doorknob unlocked, I gripped the knob and
turned, pushing in on the door. In that
instant I heard a rustling directly behind me, but before I could turn,
something crashed into my back, pushing me into the door like a pinball,
slamming it open and thrusting me through the now wide open doorway. As I stumbled over the threshold, I caught a
glimpse of Jo-Jo standing directly in front of me in the kitchen with wide
yellow eyes, hunched back, and straight-in-the-air-fluffed-out tail. He let out a loud hiss and vanished around
the corner and into the bedroom. “Hey...what the...” I protested as someone grabbed a handful of my hair and yanked my head back hard enough to elicit a loud crack out of my neck.
My brain flashed back to that night - a knife...shining in the candlelight...slashing...

Hi! Thanks to Goodreads.com and Sherrie from Infinity Publishing http://www.authors.com/profile/InfinityPublishing?xg_source=activity
I've finally gathered the courage to start a real blog. I do the "mini blog" thing on Twitter and Facebook, but even though I wrote an entire novel (Visions of You), I was afraid to start a blog! What a baby, huh? :~P Anyway, here I am, sitting at my computer with my little dog Pippin curled in my lap, wondering what to say. If you'd like to check out my book, please visit Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, or even my fledgling (bear with me) website: www.cybourgeois.com . I'm going to attempt to be a good little writer and post at least once a week.
